Göttingen, the city which has given rise to the largest number of Nobel Prize winners in Germany is the home of APS GmbH.
Göttingen is a city in the southernost part of the German state of Lower Saxony, and lies in the center of Germany and is easily accessible from most parts of the country. It is best known for being the home of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (The first ranked university in Germany on 2010 and 43th in world According to the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings) as well as the site where the prestigious Max Planck Society (a German organization for scientific research) was founded in 1948.Göttingen University has repeatedly been able to win the "best minds" for itself in the course of its 275-year history.
Göttingen is linked with 44 Nobel Prize winners - more than any other city in Europe (with the exception of Stockholm):
Johanes Stark, Nernst, Max von Laune, Herbert Kroemer, Bernhard Riemann, Carl Friedrich Gauss, David Hilbert, Hermann Minkowski, Otto Hahn, Lou Andreas-Salomé, Max Born, Max Planck, Werner Heisenberg, Wilhelm Eduard Weber, Brothers Grimm and many other notable people lived and worked in Göttingen.
